Configuring Safe-Pay

In this article, we’ll cover the steps required to set up Safe-Pay for a company. There are a few things to be aware of before getting started.

Safe-Pay Prerequisites:

  • To be able to configure and use Safe-Pay your company must first have the following features assigned by your service provider:
    • Safe-Pay
    • Allow outgoing SMS
    • Allow outgoing emails
  • Company administrators must have the Safe-Pay Configuration: Modify privilege to configure Safe-Pay
  • Your service provider must register your company as a “merchant” via Sycurio.
Note: Sycurio is a 3rd party platform that your service provider will register your company with to complete payments. When the registration is complete you will be given details that you will need to input whilst configuring Safe-Pay.

Step 1 – Merchant Configuration #

The first step is to complete the Merchant configuration. When your company signs up to a payment processing system such as Sycurio, it is registered as a merchant with the system. The administrator will need to provide information about the company’s registration with the payment processing system for use by the Safe-Pay feature.

Step 2 – PSP Configuration #

Next, we need to complete the PSP (Payment Service Provider) Configuration. Payment Service Providers (PSPs) are third parties that enable merchants (your company) to accept payments by various means such as credit and debit cards. A company administrator can configure settings and specify data for the PSP that your company registered with the payment processing system when it signed up to use the payment service. The PSP parameters are used by Contact to generate a payment link.

When configuring the PSP there are additional settings that can be configured to give you more control in how payments are processed.

  • Link Delivery: Choose how payments are sent to the customer: via email, SMS or both
  • PSP Parameters: Specify additional parameters that the payment processing system will pass through to the Payment Service Provider when the payment transaction is in progress
  • Advanced: Configure additional limits for making payments
  • Digital Wallets: (Stripe payment type only) Specify additional parameters to support digital wallets for making payments.

Step 3 – Payment Queues #

Payment queues allow agents to select a queue to place a new payment transaction. This means if required agents can park payments against a queue and return to it later. You can create multiple payment queues.

Note: Each payment queue must be assigned to one or more PSP. If multiple PSPs have been defined they will each require their own payment queue. Multiple queues may use the same PSP.

Step 4 – Test and go live! #

The final step is to test that the settings are configured correctly. You can do this in preproduction mode allowing you to test without making any payments. In order to complete testing the ‘Go live with Payment Service’ checkbox must be disabled on the relevant PSP.

When you are certain that payment transactions are being processed as expected, tick the Enable Live Payment Service Environment checkbox to allow live payments to be carried out.

Additional Configuration: #

To get the service running as you’d expect you may need to do some additional configuration in other areas of the product.

Agent Privileges #

In order for agents to use Safe-Pay they must have the following privileges:

  • To receive incoming payments: Safe-Pay: Receive Payments enabled
  • To make outgoing payments and refunds: Safe-Pay: Make Outgoing Payments enabled
  • To send payment links via email: Handle Outbound Emails enabled
  • To send payment links via SMS: Handle Outbound SMS enabled

Roles, Privileges and Profiles

In order for agents to view the contents of a payment queue they will need the relevant privileges and to be a member of the appropriate user group.

Payment Templates #

Administrators can define a template for agents to use when sending out payment links.

  • The link that the customer will click on to make a payment can be delivered via email or SMS. The template should be a non-editable template of the appropriate type.
  • The position of the link in an email or SMS can be configured by placing the characters {{link}} in the content at the appropriate location. If the link location is not specified, the link will be inserted at the head of an email as the first line or at the end of an SMS after a space.

If you want to allow payment links to be sent via email you will need to have specified an outbound SMTP server from which emails (including payment links) are sent.
