Configuring SMS From Addresses

In order for agents to be able to send SMS messages administrators need to configure the SMS From Address. This is the address from which outbound SMS messages can be sent. This could be alphanumeric, numeric or a short code.

Configure SMS From Address

  1. Click SMS > SMS From Addresses on the menu bar
  2. Click Add and the new SMS From Address page will be displayed
  3. Enter the mandatory Name of the SMS origination address (up to 200 characters)
  4. Select the mandatory type of SMS origination address from the dropdown list, either:
    • Alphanumeric
    • Short code
    • Numeric
  5. Enter the mandatory SMS origination address (see below for values)
  6. Click Add
  7. The SMS From Address will be added

SMS origination address values:

  • Alphanumeric: Up to 11 characters, for example, Yak123. The address can only consist of letters (a-z and A-Z) and digits (0-9). Punctuation is not allowed.
  • Short code: Between 3 and 8 digits, for example, 34001. The address can only consist of digits (0-9).
  • Numeric: Up to 100 digits. The number can start with optional + and national escape digits. Whitespace, hyphens, () and [] are also allowed.

Delete an SMS From Address

  1. Click SMS > SMS From Addresses on the menu bar
  2. Select the relevant SMS From Address
  3. Click Delete
  4. Click Yes to confirm
  5. The address will be deleted

Definitions

  • Name: The name of the SMS origination address.
  • Type: The type of SMS origination address. One of the following:
    • Alphanumeric
    • Short code
    • Numeric
  • SMS Origination Address: The SMS address from which outbound SMS messages can be sent.
